The aim of Shannon Voices is to offer all children and young people in the region a chance to learn from and sing alongside leading professionals in the area of vocal exploration.

Alan Leech, one of Ireland’s leading tenors and former conductor with the RTE Philharmonic Choir, will work with the young singers as they develop their own unique style.  The choir will explore a number of genres including Folk, Pop, Classical and Rap.  Alan will be joined by members of Musician Educator teams working with Music Generation Leitrim and Music Generation Roscommon.

Music Generation Development Officers Therese McCartin (Leitrim) and Ellen Glennon (Roscommon) are very excited about this project. Both truly believe this is a fantastic and unique opportunity for the children and young people in Roscommon-Leitrim and the surrounding area.

Therese McCartin says “We are delighted to be joining forces with our neighbours - Music Generation Roscommon in association with Sing Ireland to develop Shannon Voices.  Together with Alan Leech’s knowledge and expertise this is set to be a wonderful adventure for the children and young people in Roscommon & Leitrim”.

Ellen Glennon says “Music Generation Roscommon is delighted to be part of this collaboration.

We are excited to be working in partnership with Music Generation Leitrim and Sing Ireland and look forward to hearing the golden voices of the children and young people from Roscommon & Leitrim under the direction of Alan Leech”.

Alan Leech says “In these testing times with a long tough winter ahead of us we need to sing.  Singing has tremendous psychological, physiological and sociological benefits to all. Come and explore ‘Voice’ with us”
